4 Reasons to Retire Your Air Conditioner

When the summer heat hits, there’s nothing worse than a malfunctioning air conditioner.

Summer is officially upon us, but that doesn’t mean you should put off replacing your AC when issues become apparent. Schneider Heating & Air Conditioning can easily assess, repair, or replace your malfunctioning AC unit—often in a single day.

Here are 4 reasons you need to give us a call this summer:

  1. Not enough cool air is circulating throughout your home. A weak air flow or semi-warm air, rather than cool air, are two common signs that your AC is in distress. In some cases, there may be a clog or blockage in your ductwork. Locating and fixing weak air flow requires thorough HVAC system knowledge.
  2. Excess moisture is visible or leaking on, or from your air conditioner. A refrigerant leak or blockage may be the underlying issue. Both may cause your AC to run poorly or produce very little, to no cold air.
  3. A foul odor is coming from your air conditioner. A properly working AC unit should produce clean air with no smell. If you smell burning or smoke, or mold or mildew, the system needs immediate exploratory maintenance.
  4. Odd noises—other than the normal fan sound of an AC unit—are heard. Any grinding, screeching, or chattering sounds coming from your AC are cause for concern.

We do want you to know that sometimes you just need a little TLC and AC maintenance. Regardless, when issues arise, it is always best to bring in a professional like Schneider Heating & Air Conditioning. We can help you diagnose the problem and determine whether or not you need to completely replace your existing AC unit.
