Using Technology to Stay Comfortable and Save Money!
Most people would be happy to save on their electric bills, many just do not know where to start. One way is using a programmable or smart thermostat for your home and the office. If your home is vacant during the day or evening for extended periods of time a smart thermostat could save you money. During those time periods when the space is vacant the programmable temperature can be set higher or lower than when you are home.
Mobile phones and computers are used to adjust the temperature of homes and businesses. With a programable thermostat, you can set schedules for the temperature at home or in a building. When the building is unoccupied or while you are sleeping, you may a different desired temperature than when you are awake or when your business is open.
The position of the thermostat and sensors in the house or building can have an effect on the detected temperature. Placing the thermostat or sensor on a wall that is hit by sunshine or near an outside door that is drafty compromises the accuracy of the thermostat. Place the sensor or thermostat on an interior wall that does not receive direct sunlight.
Don’t forget that programmable thermostats and sensors are operated by battery and need regularly changed. One tip is to change batteries in thermostats, smoke detectors, radon detectors or other safety equipment at tax time every year so that it is not forgotten. Working with a professional HVAC company to install a smart thermostat can save you money and make your home or building more comfortable year-round.
