When Certification Matters
Since 1997, over 34,000 Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) technicians have become NATE, North American Technician Excellence, certified. According to their website, “NATE is an independent organization that certifies installation or service technicians with a knowledge-based test. Organizations that are part of the NATE coalition include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers.” Being a NATE certified technician means that they are the most qualified and dependable HVACR technicians in their field.
Becoming NATE certified is not an easy task. Those who choose to go through the process start with a core knowledge test covering: Basic Construction, Basic Science, Basic Electrical Principles, Tools and Safety and How to Achieve Desired Conditions. Following the core test, the technician takes a specialized test in one of the following areas: Air Conditioning Installation or Service, Air Distribution Service or Installation, Gas Heating Installation or Service, or Oil Heating Installation or Service. Each test must be passed with a score of 70 or better. Once a technician earns their initial certification, they must renew every two years by earning credits through approved course. The credits help the technicians stay up to date on important information in their field.
At Schneider Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., our service technicians are all NATE certified! And as an alliance of industry-recognized partners, you will have a greater peace of mind knowing we are sending out the right person for the job!
